Dr. Ramsey is actually the only pediatric
dentist in Arizona to use the new Waterlase technology. Developed
by Biolase, this dental instrument uses a laser to excite the hydrogen
molecules in water in a process known as hydrophotonics, allowing
dentists to remove decay and perform soft tissue procedures without
giving an injection. Patient feel the sensation of room
temperature water on their teeth. "It's an excellent tool for
pediatric dentists," said Ben Schulte, a laser specialist with Biolase.
"I've seen Dr. Ramsey use it with kids. He shows them how the
water comes out of the tip and puts the water on their hand. He
tells them that what they feel on their hand is what they will feel in
their mouth. Then, he performs the procedure painlessly and
without giving an injection.
